For dog owners, it is important to consider the natural pace of Rottweiler growth is slow and there is nothing to be worried about.
It is fine for a young puppy to appear somewhat out of proportion and some of these dogs can be scrawny or rangy during their adolescent growth years. This period can range between 12 weeks to 2 years. A puppy reaches his full height much earlier than his full puppy weight. The muscle development process in Rottweiler growth is comparatively slower than the growth of puppy height.
Puppy weight, height, bone structure, bone size, and coloring are determined through genetics. Genetics are proper indicators of the growth of your Rottweiler puppy. It determines how your puppy will look when it has matured to its full growth, height, and weight. Your male puppy will slightly resemble its father in terms of size, height, weight, and color. By the time your precious puppy reaches his 6-months milestone, it would easily have achieved 75% of his total height. It takes your pup about 2 years to reach its maximum height.
Weight of Your Puppy
On average, your puppy will grow between 5 to 6 ounces each day during the first six months. By the time your puppy is four months old, hit would easily be 10 pounds. When your pup is six months old expect him to reach about 66% of his adult weight. When your precious pup achieves its full height, it will start to look healthier and stronger. Your pup will fill up nicely and you will see more puppy weight.
Be sure of the fact that your Rottweiler will continue to grow and put on weight between 16 months to 2 years.
While the stats mentioned here are generally true for the breed, remember that some puppies can take longer than that. Do not fall for products some Rottweiler breeders are selling for expediting the growth of your Rott. Patience is the key to raising a healthy puppy!
